Shopify Source-to-Report Reconciliation Framework
A source-to-report reconciliation framework for Shopify data covering timing, metric definition, date anchor and attribution, improving traceability and confidence in executive reporting.
Context
Numbers in executive reports must be traceable back to Shopify source data. Differences usually come from a handful of well-known causes rather than from errors.
My Role
As Analytics Lead I established the reconciliation framework used to explain and resolve differences between source and report.
Approach
- Timing: when a transaction is captured versus when it is reported.
- Metric definition: which orders, refunds and adjustments each metric includes.
- Date anchor: which date a record is attributed to.
- Attribution: how a result is assigned to channels and campaigns.
Purpose
Improved traceability and confidence in executive reporting, with differences explained by a shared framework rather than investigated from scratch each time.
